MASA is the most expensive restaurant in New York … and the world. Want to know more about this sensational restaurant?
MASA is a Japanese Restaurant capacity to only 26 guests which is located in the Time Warner Center in Manhattan (New York). Sleek design, with that almost minimalist sobriety characteristic of the Japanese, takes its name from its owner and chef Masa Takayama.
Takayama began his career in Japan. In 1980 he emigrated to the U.S.. Soon he opened a restaurant (also Japanese, of course) called Ginza Sushiko in Los Angeles. Which became one of the most expensive restaurants in town. A few years later decided to go to New York. Place where he now resides.
MASA is the temple of sushi. The essence of the restaurant lies in two ideas of Japanese culture: Shibui and umami.
MASA is Shibui: simplicity devoid of unnecessary elements and honest presentation of materials.
MASA is umami: the basic essence of the flavor of each ingredient.
Most fish served in the restaurant comes directly from Japan in orders made by Takayama himself. Which is why there is no menu, because depending on the availability of ingredients are made lunch and dinner. Reservations are held the first week of each month for the rest of the month.
The price per person dinner at this restaurant is around 349.591 USD (excluding tax and drink).
